Level of Academics - What level is going to suit you?

University should be a place that challenges you intellectually - it should push you out of your comfort zone and encourage critical and independent thinking.
With that being said, if you are pushed too far out of your comfort zone you could find yourself in a position where you are forced to drop classes and take extra semesters to catch up. There's nothing wrong with wanting to challenge yourself, but it's important to be realistic about the challenges you set.
The SAT is just one way to measure where you are at academically and it certainly is not the only way you should judge yourself academically. Your high school grades will serve as a good indicator as to what type of student you are - that's why college coaches will be concerned with low grades. Coaches want to know that a player will be able to manage the workload of a university student, especially given the NCAA's rules regarding eligibility (a student has to be enrolled in 12 credits a semester to remain eligible). If you take 4 classes and fail or drop a class then you become ineligible to compete in any college competition. Something important to consider when choosing a college based on academics. If you have any doubts, the best thing to do is to speak to a coach from the school that you have doubts about. They will usually be honest with you about how rigorous the academics are.
